Batman Legacy Alan Grant Doug Moench Chuck Dixon Graham Nolan Jim Aparo Books
Reading these comics is one of the happiest and most frustrating moments of my life! These books are AMAZING, the story is interesting and it keeps you coming back for more! But at the same time, it frustrates me that comics TODAY are NOTHING like this! The writing is excellent, the art is wonderful, and the storyline is fantastic!

Batman Legacy Alan Grant Doug Moench Chuck Dixon Graham Nolan Jim Aparo Books Reviews
First, it's a shame this is no longer being published--don't spend crazy money on this! Hopefully DC will reprint this given that Knightfall has been recollected and Bane of the Demon (Legacy's prequel) has just been collected for the first time in Batman vs Bane.
I have to say this is one of the most consistently good Batman cross-overs. The build up is excellent--especially if you're familiar with the prior events--and the story precedes like an action-packed film. It commemorates Detective's 700th issue with several throw-backs throughout the tale and everything you want from a Ra's Al Ghul story is here plus the first real confrontation between Bane and Batman since Knightfall.
It's not perfect, but it certainly is some of the best output from the 90s Batman!
The advertised book is "Batman Legacy." However, the synopsis, and both customer reviews, are for an earlier graphic novel, entitled "Batman Contagion." The aforementioned plague is released, confronted and eventually cured in "Contagion" and in "Legacy" the source is traced.
How many more deep blows to their collective souls can the good citizens of Gotham City take?
They weathered the outbreak of a lethal disease, an Ebola-like virus ("The Clench"), which has now returned...with a vengeance. And tragic times will bring unique alliances - for good and evil - with Batman and Robin teaming up with the likes of Nightwing, Oracle, Catwoman, Azrael and the Huntress to defeat the twisted genius of Ra's Al Ghul, Bane and The League of Assassins, who have a goal of unleashing a strain of the virus throughout the world.
From the streets of Gotham City to the expanse of the Middle East, the sequel to Batman Contagion is a race against time, as an unbridled evil is prepared to destroy the world and place those "lucky" enough to survive into a test tube of servitude.
The first 7 issues of this collection don't really have anything to do with the Legacy crossover except for the last page of each of the 3 stories. That being said, they're still solid stories. Chuck Dixon pens most of the issues, who was a capable Batman family writer throughout the 90's.
Legacy spins directly out of Batman Contagion. The Clench has been lying dormant in each of the people previously infected by the virus and it's only a matter of time before they all die. Batman, Nightwing, and Robin must track down an ancient cure before everyone succumbs to the virus, including Robin.
This review is purely about the book and issues contained, not the story itself. I, for one, am glad that DC is finally reprinting and collecting Batman well (at least they are in my opinion). If you read what is typically considered the "prelude," "main story," and "epilogue" for Batman Legacy, then you will see that it is completed collected between Volume 1 and Volume 2 (due out February 2018).
In this volume, Vol 1
Prelude Robin 31, Batman 533, Shadow of the Bat 53, Catwoman 33-35, and Detective Comics 697-699
(Main Story) Part 1 Detective Comics 700
Upcoming volume in February 2018, Vol 2
Prelude Bane of the Demon 1-4
Part 2 Catwoman 36
Part 3 Robin 32
Part 4 Shadow of the Bat 54
Part 5 Batman 534
Part 6 Detective Comics 701
Part 7 Robin 33
Epilogue Detective Comics 702, Batman Bane
The only aspect I cannot understand for the life of me is why Bane of the Demon 1-4 is included in Volume 2, and not Volume 1. Other than that, I'm excited to finally read the full story!
Book arrived earlier than scheduled great reading thank you
This version of Batman Legacy is set after the events of Contagion but prior to Cataclysm and No Man's Land. This updated version of Legacy has been expanded to include some non-essential material but it is still an enjoyable read. The only downside is that we have to wait for an yet to be announced volume 2 for the conclusion to this story-line.
